Local SEO Audit: Beyond the Profile

One-time fixed price · Written report, take it anywhere · No implementation lock-in · EU-registered, GDPR

Your Google Business Profile is only one part of local search. This one-time audit checks everything outside it: NAP consistency across directories, location and service-area pages, LocalBusiness schema, and why you rank (or do not) in both the map pack and the local blue links. Written report. Prioritized fix list. No implementation lock-in.

What the audit covers

NAP and citation consistency audit
We crawl your business name, address, and phone across structured directories (Apple Maps, Bing Places, Yelp, Foursquare, and market-specific sources for PL, UA, and EU) plus unstructured mentions across the open web. We catalog every NAP variant, flag duplicate or conflicting listings, and identify closed or abandoned profiles that dilute the entity signal Google uses to confirm you are who you say you are. This is the off-Google record the profile service never touches.
Location and service-area page audit
We review the location and service-area pages your site already has: whether each one is crawlable and indexable, whether it carries real local content instead of a city name dropped into a template, how it is linked from the homepage and hub pages, and whether near-identical pages cross into thin-doorway territory. A page is worth keeping where a real address or a real serviced zone stands behind it. Where neither does, one more page creates no visibility, and the report says that instead of recommending a page per city. Every page gets a keep, fix, or consolidate verdict.
LocalBusiness and entity schema audit
We validate LocalBusiness JSON-LD on location and service-area pages: address, geo coordinates, areaServed for no-storefront businesses, openingHours, and sameAs references against the citations we find in the audit. We flag missing, incomplete, or conflicting structured data and note where schema gaps affect not just Google's understanding but also how AI assistants resolve your business entity across sources.
Local-organic and map-pack visibility diagnosis
We run a geo-grid scan of your current visibility for local-intent queries across both surfaces: the 3-pack and Maps results, and the local blue links below them. We separate problems that belong to the profile from problems that belong to the website, so you know whether more profile tweaks will help or whether the drag is on the on-page and citation side. Both surfaces matter for local revenue; most audits look at only one.
Local link and local-relevance audit
We assess your local backlink footprint (chamber memberships, association listings, local sponsorships, local press coverage, and niche directories relevant to your sector and market) against what the competitive landscape in your area actually requires. The goal is to identify the handful of local link gaps that move the needle, not a generic domain-count comparison. We do not build links here; we tell you which ones to pursue and why.
Multi-location and service-area architecture review
For businesses with several branches or no fixed address, we audit per-location data standards, whether one-profile-per-location or service-area configuration matches the business model, and whether the URL and page structure is scalable or heading toward a de-duplication problem. The output is a prioritized fix list per location, not a single generic recommendation, so whoever implements knows exactly what to change where.

In plain figures: the Start audit costs €199 and covers a single location or service area; Professional at €399 adds the full geo-grid scan, the local link gap analysis, and a comparison against up to three competitors; Expert at €750 covers multi-location architecture with a per-location fix list and 30 days of implementation Q&A.

Tiers map to footprint: one location or service area fits Start, a competitive single footprint fits Professional, and several branches or zones fit Expert. The number of locations and serviced territories is fixed in writing before the work starts, because that count decides both the scope of the audit and its price. Larger chains and franchises are quoted after the free express review, and every multi-location audit delivers a per-location fix list rather than one generic document.

Why a great profile is not enough

Part of what decides the map pack and the local blue links sits outside your Google Business Profile, where the profile itself cannot reach. Here is where businesses get stuck.

Your profile is fully optimized and you still do not rank in the local blue links
A complete, category-correct profile makes you eligible for the map pack. The blue links below it are ranked the way the rest of organic search is ranked, from the pages on your site and the signals pointing at them, and the profile does not reach that layer. Appearing on one surface and not the other is a reason to measure both, which is what the audit does before anyone decides where the drag sits.
You want to be found across several districts of Warszawa or Kraków
Visibility in a given district rests on things you cannot duplicate your way into: a real address or a declared serviced zone there, the categories on the profile, the reviews, and how completely the profile is filled in. A listing or a page for a district where you have no presence adds no visibility and creates a record that can be suspended. The audit establishes what you can legitimately claim in each area, then checks whether your name, address, and phone records across Polish directories support it.
You moved or now serve a displaced market and the NAP trail is a mess
Businesses that relocated during 2022 to 2024 or now serve a Ukrainian diaspora across the EU carry stale addresses, duplicate listings, and conflicting NAP across old and new records. Google cannot resolve the entity with confidence, so neither the map pack nor local organic stabilizes regardless of how clean the current profile looks.
Russian-speaking audience scattered across the EU with no Yandex fallback
For businesses serving Russian-speaking communities in Tallinn, Riga, or Berlin, Google is the entire local search layer. Citations are split across half-abandoned profiles and old directories, so NAP consistency is not a nice-to-have, it is the whole game, and getting it wrong means disappearing from the only channel that reaches this audience.
Multiple EU branches each entered differently and nothing lines up
Several locations across EU countries, each with the street abbreviations, phone formats, and language variants entered differently by whoever set them up. Inconsistent NAP confuses both Google's entity resolution and the AI assistants that pull business data from directory sources, and it dilutes every location's ability to rank locally.
Near-identical city pages that suppress rather than lift rankings
Thin "[service] in [city]" template pages were built at some point and are effectively duplicate doorways. Google's quality guidelines flag this pattern, and the result is often a suppression effect: the pages compete with each other, none ranks well, and the domain takes on a thin-content signal that affects the broader site.
You cannot tell whether the problem is the profile or the website
More profile tweaks when the issue is citations. More content when the issue is schema. More links when the issue is a duplicate listing. Without a diagnosis that separates map-pack signals from local-organic signals, you keep buying the wrong fix and nothing moves. This audit exists to answer that question before any more budget is spent.
You serve customers at their address and have no storefront
A business that travels to the customer hides its street address on the profile and declares serviced zones instead, so what it needs is service-area page structure, correct areaServed values in the schema, and business data that stays consistent without a street address on display. A business that works only online and never meets customers in person is a different case under Google's rules, with no eligible profile to optimize and all of the local work sitting on the website and in citations. Generic advice about optimizing a storefront fits neither. The audit starts by establishing which of the two describes you.

What the report looks like

A written document your team can execute from. Every finding carries a severity and an implementation note, so any developer or agency can act on it without asking us what we meant. The report is yours to take anywhere.

  1. 1

    Citation inventory

Every listing we found, with a per-listing status: correct, inconsistent, duplicate, or abandoned, and the exact data each record should carry.

  2. 2

    Location-page verdicts

A keep, fix, or consolidate verdict on each location and service-area page, including which pages cross into thin-doorway territory.

  3. 3

    Schema error log

Missing, incomplete, or conflicting LocalBusiness markup per page, with the corrected structure noted for each error.

  4. 4

    Geo-grid snapshot

Where you currently appear for local-intent queries, separated by surface: map pack versus the local blue links below it.

  5. 5

    Prioritized fix list

Every issue ranked by severity, each with an implementation note on what to change and where. Multi-location audits get this list per location.

Illustrative structure, not a real client report. Length varies with tier and findings.

Who does the auditing

CyberLab.Team is a Google Partner agency that has worked with local search since 2015. Our team takes part in the Google Product Experts program, which means profile, duplicate, and access issues uncovered during the audit get routed through the right support channels faster. Routing is all it speeds up: we make no promise of reinstatement, timelines, or any particular outcome. We are EU-registered (CyberLab.Team OÜ, Tallinn, Estonia), operate under GDPR, and sign a Data Processing Agreement on request.

What happens after the audit

The report is built to be executed without us. Here is how businesses typically use it.

1

Hand it to your own team

Give the prioritized fix list to your developer or your current agency. Every item includes implementation notes, so nobody has to reverse-engineer what a finding means.

2

Fix in the order listed

Items are ranked by expected impact and effort, so the work that matters most comes first. The ranking reflects our judgment of your situation, not dated outcome promises.

3

Or ask us about monthly execution

If you want the fixes handled month over month, that is our Small Business Promotion retainer: a separate agreement, and the audit creates no obligation to order it.

What does this look like in practice?

A typical engagement: a service business with a complete, well-kept profile that shows in the map pack for branded searches yet stays invisible for the service-plus-city queries that bring new customers. The geo-grid scan confirms the split: eligible in the pack, absent from the local blue links. The citation crawl finds the address from a move two years earlier still live on a dozen directories, the site has one thin template page per district, and LocalBusiness schema is missing everywhere. The fix list puts citation cleanup and page consolidation first and schema second, each item with a note on what to change and where. The client's own developer implements over the following weeks. Nothing further is ordered from us, which is exactly how the audit is designed to work.

Anonymized example of our process, not a promise of results.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from your Google Business Profile service? +
The Google Business Profile service works inside the profile: categories, photos, posts, Q&A, services, review responses, and the attributes that make you eligible for the map pack. This audit works outside the profile: NAP consistency across directories, location and service-area pages on your website, LocalBusiness schema, local link relevance, and local-organic ranking in the blue links. The profile alone cannot fix a citation that lists your old address on twenty directories, create a properly structured location page, or tell you why you rank in the pack but not in the organic results below it. Many businesses need both. This audit tells you which problems live outside the profile, so you know whether you do.
How is this different from your Small Business Promotion retainer? +
Small Business Promotion is ongoing monthly execution: managing citations, publishing local content, maintaining the profile, and building local links over time. This audit is a one-time fixed-price diagnostic that produces a written report and a prioritized fix list. Do the audit first. You get a clear picture of exactly what is broken and what to fix in which order, whether you then hire us for the retainer, hand the list to your own team, or take it to another agency. Starting a retainer without a diagnosis means paying for implementation that may be pointed at the wrong problems.
How is this different from your general SEO Site Audit? +
The SEO Site Audit is location-agnostic: technical health, site-wide crawlability, content quality, backlink profile, and competitive gaps. It treats every page equally. This audit applies a local layer on top: NAP and citation consistency across structured and unstructured sources, location and service-area pages (are they indexable, are they properly structured, are they thin doorways?), LocalBusiness schema on each location, map-pack versus local-organic visibility separation, and local link relevance. If your business depends on showing up for queries like "[service] in [city]", the general SEO Site Audit is not designed for that diagnosis. This one is.
How is this different from your Google Maps service? +
The Google Maps service focuses on the map listing experience: verification, photos, user-generated content, review strategy, and ownership or transfer issues when access is disputed. This audit focuses on the website-side and citation-side signals that drive map-pack eligibility and local-organic ranking: NAP consistency, location pages, schema, and local links. They work on different layers of the same local search result. If your listing is claimed and clean but you still do not rank, the website and citation layer is the next place to look, and that is the layer this audit measures. Whether the drag is actually there is what the diagnosis establishes; we do not decide it before we have looked.
Do you audit my reviews and ratings too? +
Only at the visibility level. The geo-grid scan shows how your review profile compares to the businesses that outrank you, and the report notes when reviews are a competitive weak point. Review strategy, response handling, and disputes over fake or unfair reviews are implementation work that lives in our Google Maps and Google Business Profile services. This audit diagnoses; those services act on what it finds.
Will this guarantee I rank in the map pack or top 3? +
No. Map-pack and local-organic ranking is Google's decision, determined by proximity, relevance, and prominence signals across your profile, your website, and your citation footprint, all weighed against every other business in your market. What this audit delivers is a prioritized list of verifiable issues you can fix: inconsistent NAP records, location pages that are thin or duplicated, schema errors, and local link gaps. Fixing those removes real blockers. Whether and how fast your rankings respond depends on your market's competitiveness, how thoroughly the fixes are implemented, and Google's own update cycle. We will not promise an outcome we cannot control.
I have no physical address. Can you audit a service-area business with no storefront? +
Yes. A service-area business, meaning one that travels to the customer, hides its street address on the profile and declares serviced zones instead, so we audit service-area page structure rather than location pages, the areaServed values in the schema, the zones declared on the profile, and NAP entries that stay consistent without a street address on display. A business that works only online and never meets customers in person is a separate case: Google does not make a Business Profile available to it, so there is no profile layer to audit and the local work sits entirely on the website and in citations. Tell us which of the two you are, and the free express review will say what there is to audit before you order anything.
What exactly is NAP consistency and why does it matter? +
NAP stands for name, address, and phone. Google uses citations across directories, mapping platforms, and unstructured mentions to verify that the business entity it sees in one place is the same one appearing elsewhere. When your name appears as three variations ("CyberLab", "CyberLab Team", "CyberLab.Team OÜ"), your phone has two formats, and an old address still appears on fifteen directories, Google's entity confidence drops. Low entity confidence makes it harder to rank in both the map pack and local organic results. For businesses that have moved, rebranded, or serve diaspora markets with fragmented citation histories, this is often the primary drag on local visibility.
Can you audit multiple locations, and how is multi-location priced? +
Yes. The Expert tier at €750 is designed for multi-location businesses and service-area businesses covering multiple cities or zones. We agree the exact number of locations and serviced territories before the work starts and write it into the scope, because that count, not the size of the company, decides how much work the audit is and what it costs. For larger chains or franchises with many locations, we quote based on scope after the free express review. Multi-location audits cover per-location data consistency, whether the profile structure (one profile per location versus service-area config) matches the business model, URL and page architecture across locations, and a prioritized fix list per location rather than a single generic list.
What is NOT included in this audit? +
We do not implement anything. We audit, document, and prioritize; your team or another provider does the fixes. We do not optimize inside your Google Business Profile (that is the GBP service), manage citations or submit you to directories (we flag the gaps; submission is a separate task), write or rewrite location page content, build local links, or run paid advertising. We also do not access your accounts beyond read-only view via email invite; we never touch your admin settings or make changes to your site or listings.
Do you fix the issues you find, or just report them? +
We report. The deliverable is a written audit report and a prioritized fix list your team can execute, with implementation notes on each item so whoever does the work knows what to do and in what order. This is intentional: your account stays yours, your agency relationships stay yours, and you are not locked into us for implementation. If after reading the report you want us to handle execution as a retainer, that conversation starts fresh with a clear scope and a separate agreement.
How is this different from a DIY checklist or a tool score, and what can I do myself for free? +
Free DIY you can genuinely do: check your own Google Business Profile for completeness, search your business name in quotes and scan the first two pages for obvious wrong addresses, run your homepage through Google's Rich Results Test for schema errors, and check which of your location or service-area pages are actually indexed. A tool score gives you a number; we give you a diagnosis. The gap is in the interpretation: knowing your citation score is 42 out of 100 does not tell you which specific listings are causing harm, whether your location pages are thin doorways or legitimate, why you rank in the pack but not in organic, or which local link gaps matter in your actual market. That diagnosis is what this audit produces.
Is this just an automated tool report like a citation scanner would produce? +
No. We use crawl and geo-grid tools to gather the raw data, because collecting hundreds of listings by hand would be slow and error-prone. The deliverable is the interpretation: which specific listings are harming you, whether your city pages are legitimate or doorway-thin, and why you appear in one surface but not the other. An automated score cannot answer any of those questions. A person who reads your market can.
Do you build citations or submit me to directories? +
No. We audit the citation landscape: which directories matter in your market, which listings are inconsistent, which are duplicates, and which are on platforms that harm rather than help. The report tells you exactly which records to fix and what the correct data should be. Citation building and submission is implementation work that sits outside the audit scope. If you need that done, we can discuss it separately after you have seen the audit findings.
How long does the audit take and what do I get? +
Start and Professional deliver in 3-5 business days, Expert in 5-10. You receive a written audit report covering every check in your tier, a prioritized fix list with implementation notes, and a summary call or async Q&A where we walk through the findings. The report is yours to keep and take anywhere; no lock-in, no ongoing obligation. We request read-only access to Google Search Console and Google Analytics by email invite, never passwords, and you can revoke access the moment the project is complete.
What does the audit report actually contain, and how long is it? +
Five core sections: a citation inventory with a status verdict for every listing we found, a keep-fix-or-consolidate verdict on each location or service-area page, a schema error log, a geo-grid snapshot of your map-pack and local-organic visibility, and a prioritized fix list where every item carries a severity and an implementation note. Length varies with your tier and with what we find. We deliberately do not promise a page count. A report is useful for what your team can act on, not for how thick it is.
Will fixing local SEO help me show up in AI assistants for local queries? +
Consistent NAP and correct LocalBusiness schema help AI assistants resolve your business as a single, authoritative entity, which means ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini are less likely to produce a wrong address or a conflicting description when someone asks about you. That is a real benefit of the schema and citation work this audit recommends. However, actively optimizing your presence inside AI assistants, measuring share of voice, sentiment, and citation frequency across ChatGPT and Perplexity, is different work that lives on the AI Visibility hub. We cross-link it here because the audiences overlap, but we will not promise AI-assistant visibility as an outcome of a local SEO audit.
I am in Poland, Ukraine, or the EU. Do you handle local directories in my market? +
Yes. Polish market audits cover directories that matter in PL: Panorama Firm, Zumi, Targeo, and platform-specific niche sources, alongside Google Maps, Bing Places, and Apple Maps. Ukrainian market audits account for businesses that have moved or now serve a diaspora, carrying stale addresses split between old and new records. EU multi-location audits handle the inconsistency that comes from entering addresses and phone numbers differently across country-level directories. We are EU-registered (CyberLab.Team OÜ, Estonia), operate under GDPR, and a Data Processing Agreement is available on request. Read-only access is by email invite; we never store credentials.
Can I get the audit and report in my language? +
Yes. We deliver the report and the findings walkthrough in English, Ukrainian, Russian, or Polish, whichever your team prefers. The language comes with the market knowledge attached: Polish reports cover the Polish directory landscape, Ukrainian reports account for relocation and diaspora NAP issues, and EU reports handle country-level directory differences. You are not paying extra for translation; you choose the language when you order.
Do I need this if my Google profile is already fully optimized? +
Possibly. A complete profile makes you eligible for the map pack, and eligibility is not ranking. Part of what decides the pack sits inside the profile: the categories, the services listed, the reviews, and how fully it is filled in. Another part sits outside it: consistent NAP across directories, the quality of your location and service-area pages, correct schema, and local link relevance. The blue links below the pack are ranked from your website. A pattern we see often is a clean profile that shows up for branded searches and close to nothing for the service-plus-city queries that bring in new customers. The audit measures both layers and tells you which one is holding you back, rather than assuming an answer in advance.
How often should a local SEO audit be repeated? +
It is one-time by design, with no subscription attached. The findings stay valid until something material changes in your business or your market. Re-audit after a move or rebrand, after opening new locations, or when local visibility drops and you cannot explain why. If nothing structural has changed and your rankings are stable, a fresh audit has little new to tell you, and we would rather say that than sell you one.
